Strings can make a world of a difference to any bass player, Hartke strings are top notch and come in all sorts of different flavors. On this page we will give some reviews on certain Hartke strings that we have take a liking to.
This is the manufactures description for the Hartke bass strings HSB545
Bass players will get nothing less than what they would expect from a Hartke product: Reliability, consistency, and ultra-fast transient response for a brighter, richer, more defined tone. The Hartke Bass Strings come in 12 configurations, including 4 and 5-string sets of XLight, Light, and Medium, available in single and 3-packs. They are long scale, nickel-wound, hex-core strings, with color-coded beads for easy identification.
Quality and Value
The HatkeHSB545 strings are polished and nickel wound, they also don’t really have that slippery feeling so the finger drag element is not a factor. Another good point for the strings are that your finger tips don’t get too jacked up like with some other strings. The strings are very consistent and are yet to break on any of us after a few years of use. For the price, the quality really cant be beat when compared to some other lower cost brands. These Hartke strings sound brighter and last much longer than most other strings in the same price category
Sound
Depending on what you play and how hard you play it these strings will vary a bit on their ability to retain their tone and brightness. If you play hard every day and gig a lot of the time these strings wont start to lose a little sound for a month or two, they will still sound great but lose just a little punchiness. Some people have talked about boiling strings to get the retention of that new sound and tone for a few extra weeks, I have never personally tried that though.
Overall
These Hartke strings are great for any player and are a great buy for the price. The retention of quality sound and the fact that your fingers don’t get all chewed up after some long sessions. Try them out, you wont be disappointed.
